Far Away

Rain fell onto his face and made him blink, but he didn’t notice it. His thoughts were focused on the battle before him.

This time, This place

Yet another battle against the Chiss. The difference was that he was fighting with his love now. The Jedi were once again united; they were once again united.

He stared at Jaina; his beautiful, hurt Jaina.

Misused, Mistakes

He had been so wrong.

Too long, Too late

And now it was too late to reveal his feelings. They were at war and facing terrible odds.

Who was I to make you wait

He’d waited for far too long. He should have known better, but he didn’t. The ah-so great Jedi-Master Kyp Durron had failed again.

Just one chance

If only he could turn back time. He shouldn’t have waited till he thought the time was right.

Just one breath

Did he have enough time to go over and tell her everything? Could he risk that?

Just in case there’s just one left

And what if she’d hurt him as well? Would he have enough strength to continue fighting then?
Would she say “I'm through waiting for the time to be right”?

‘Cause you know,
you know, you know

But she’d always known. He saw it in her eyes as she turned towards him.

That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long

He wanted to go over and tell her what a fool he’d been to go away from her, to leave her alone like that. Shattered and broken after a war that had cost her the ones she’d loved the most.

I keep dreaming you’ll be with me
and you’ll never go

Would she stay with him? Jaina had always been someone who needed to be free, never settling down, never resting.
Would she be willing to give that up for him?

Stop breathing if
I don’t see you anymore

But this was his last chance, Kyp realized. He couldn’t even imagine what losing Jaina would do to him. He needed to know now….

On my knees, I’ll ask

Before he’d even noticed it, he was already walking over to her and facing her again; his mental shields opened for the only person he’d forever be vulnerable to.

But the Chiss were starting to fire. They were running out of time.

Last chance for one last dance

“I’m sorry, Jaina.” he said hastily, before he activated his lightsaber.

‘Cause with you, I’d withstand

He grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the line of fire.

All of hell to hold your hand

Charric fire was coming from all sides, but Kyp stood firm in front of Jaina. He wouldn’t falter. Not this time.

I’d give it all
I’d give for us
Give anything but I won’t give up

His blade was becoming a brilliant fury, deflecting everything that dared to come close enough to hurting his love.

Behind him, Jaina had activated her own lightsaber and covered his back, while the Chiss were encircling them. They both knew it.

They were dancing together once again, the dance of death.

Master and apprentice.
The rouge and the goddess.

‘Cause you know,
you know, you know

Jaina looked deep into his eyes. Kyp knew what she was about to do, like he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop her.

“Wait! I have to tell you something.”
“Kyp, this is hardly the right moment!” Jaina shouted between deflecting two shots and over the hissing of their blades.
“What is it?”

I love you
I have loved you all along
” Kyp replied sincerely.
And I miss you
I’ve Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you’ll be with me
and you’ll never go

I’ll Stop breathing if
I don’t see you anymore”

Jaina looked at him surprised. But she didn’t hesitate. She never did.

Her grip on her lightsaber hardened and she pushed forward, fighting back the Chiss and opening an escape line for them.

So far away
Been far away for far too long
So far away
Been far away for far too long
But you know, you know, you know

Just when she took down the last Chiss warrior in their way, a bolt hit her in the back.

I wanted

Time seemed to slow down around him.

I wanted you to stay

Kyp reached deeply into the force and ran as fast as he could.

‘Cause I needed
I need to hear you say

He caught Jaina’s falling body and lifted her up.

That I love you
I have loved you all along

With Jaina over his shoulder and the lightsaber in his hand, he stormed towards his own troops.

Cold rain fell into his face and made his Jedi-Robe heavy. His feet were hitting the red, stony ground hard.
But louder than everything was the beating of his heart.

And I forgive you
For being away for far too long

All that mattered now was getting her safe.

So keep breathing

He rushed into a medic tent and carefully laid her down on a free bed.

'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore

He didn’t care whether he was needed in the battle now; right now he was needed here, at her side.

Believe it

Jaina slowly opened her eyes when he took her hand. She smiled.
The look in her eyes told him everything he needed to know.
